The CulturalGenius™ Consortium
CulturalGenius™ is the social and intellectual acumen that we acquire by virtue of our cultural pathways (Brown, 2018). Each individual and/or global citizen possesses a certain CulturalGenius™, but due to historically based systems of oppression, the individual may not realize the full value of their cultural genius, or understand how to wield that cultural genius in a tangible or transformative way.
The Queer ( LGBTQI+) community has a particularly adept form of cultural genius™ that is informed by people from every creed, background, ethnicity, nationality and walk of life. As a result, the cultural genius™ of Queer people can be fairly instructive as our society looks for new forms of adaptive leadership to meet the challenges of the current day.
If we as a society allowed members of underrepresented groups to fully utilize their cultural genius, the world as we know it would be fully actualized. Given the opportunities that exist for people to reach their full human potential and build stronger and sustainable communities, we cannot rely on external agents to help us see our value. As leaders from communities with wisdom traditions, it is our responsibility to cultivate the knowledge, skills, and prowess that have been offered by our elders, ancestors, and transcestors to build the world of our choosing. As Queer poet, writer, playwright and essayist June Jordan wrote:

“If humankind is to
have not only a future
but a destiny,
it must consciously
and deliberately be designed.”
As a result, we have created the CulturalGenius™ Consortium (“CGC”), a collaborative, co-learning community designed to elevate personal leadership and facilitate positive leadership impact. You can participate in one of two ways: 1) Either you can sign up for the CGC Coaching Program, or, 2) you can attend the CGC Community Circles that take place every month.
CulturalGenius™ Consortium Coaching Program
The CGC Coaching Program is a 12-month coaching program designed for high potential leaders within under-served communities (LGBTQ+, BIPOC, Women, People with Disabilities, etc.). The purpose of the program is to help leaders from underserved communities accelerate their leadership growth while remaining faithful to their cultural heritage and identity.
Members are placed in cohorts and are coached in both the individual and group context. Individual coaching would take place twice monthly, with group coaching taking place once quarterly.
Each member of the CGC Coaching Program would be responsible for completing a Capstone project and meeting regularly with a peer for the duration of the CGC program.
In order to sign up for the CGC Coaching Program, please email us directly at joel@pneumos.com for us to schedule an intake and to gauge your interest for our CGC Coaching Program.
CulturalGenius™ Consortium Community Circles
The second option for becoming a member of the CulturalGenius™ Consortium is participation in the Monthly Community Circles. Every month, we hold a community call with leaders around the world to discuss a particular Queer cultural value and how to use that cultural value to build your leadership practice. As with any leadership discussion, the opportunity is for each attendee to focus on growth in three critical areas: 1) Self, 2) Relationships, 3) and the Community or Organization.
Each monthly call is 90 minutes and the attendance for each community dialogue is limited to 50 people in order to maximize the learning experience for everyone. Our community has an intersectional lens and prides itself on being heart-centered, globally-minded, intellectual, practical, and systems-oriented or holistic.
The sessions are facilitated by Dr. Joel, but are held without regard to one’s positionality, title, or level of experience. Everyone is welcomed and everyone is seen as an equal. By participating, you are agreeing to abide by the community agreements as forwarded in preparation for our sessions.
